I respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This page explains what this website collects, why, who helps process it, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
Seth Cort, Cape Town, South Africa, is the responsible party and the information officer for this site. Contact me at bookings@sethcort.com.
What is collected and why
Messages. When you use the contact form I receive your name, email address, the subject (if you give one) and your message. They are used only to reply to you about bookings and enquiries. The form sends them by email to my bookings inbox, with a copy to Stream Labs, who manage this website, so they can check that messages are being delivered. The website does not store them in a database, and you are not added to any mailing list.
Analytics, only if you accept. With your consent I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and whether the contact form or an email link was used). Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_GHJVMEPNWV, which last up to two years. They are not set, and nothing is sent to Google Analytics, unless you click Accept on the cookie notice.
Site performance. Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load. It does not use cookies or identify you.
Your cookie choice. Whether you accepted or declined is remembered in your browser's local storage so you aren't asked on every visit. It is not sent to me.
Your choice about cookies
Declining analytics cookies doesn't affect anything else on the site. You can change your mind at any time: use (also in the footer) to clear your choice and the analytics cookies, and the notice will ask you again.
Who processes it
- Vercel hosts the website and processes standard request logs, such as IP addresses, to serve and protect it.
- Twilio SendGrid delivers the contact form emails.
- Google provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Stream Labs manages the website and receives a copy of contact form messages.
These providers are based in, or store data in, countries outside South Africa, including the United States. I rely on their contractual data-protection commitments to keep your information protected to a standard comparable to POPIA.
How long it is kept
Contact form emails are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted, unless we are working together and they are needed for that booking. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in the Google Analytics account, at most 14 months.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Email bookings@sethcort.com and I will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with the response, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If how personal information is handled changes, this page and the date at the top will be updated.
